PLA Type 11-Pin Relay Pinout, Circuit, and Wiring Diagram

Hey, in this article, we are going to see a PLA Type 11-pin Relay Pinout, Circuit, and Wiring Diagram. An 11-pin PLA-type relay typically refers to a type of electromagnetic relay with 11 pins used for control and connection purposes. The complete set has a base and a relay module. Basically, we have to make the connection to the Base and plug in the relay module to the base. An 11-pin relay is also known as 3C/O Relay which means it has 3 commons and their respective outputs. The 11-pin configuration typically includes pins for coil connections (usually two or more pins) and pins for the common, normally open, and normally closed contacts.

Here, you can see the pinout diagram of an 11-pin Relay.

Coil Pins (Control Pins): These are the pins that connect to the coil of the relay. When voltage is applied to the coil, it generates a magnetic field that activates the switch contacts. Generally, any relay has two coil terminals - positive and negative. Similarly, here the 11-pin relay also has two coil terminals. Pin no. 2 and pin no. 10 are the coil terminals where pin no. 2 is the Line or Positive(+) and pin no. 10 is the Neutral or Negative(-).

Common (COM) Contacts: This is the common connection point for the switch contacts and it connects to one side of the load. The 11-pin relay has 3 common terminals which are Pin no. 1, 5, and 11.

Normally Open (NO) Contacts: These are the switch contacts that are open (disconnected) when the relay is not energized but close (connected) when the relay is energized. The 11-pin relay has 3 Normally Open terminals which are Pin no. 3, 7, and 9 respective to common terminals 1, 5, and 11.

Normally Closed (NC) Contacts: These are the switch contacts that are closed (connected) when the relay is not energized but open (disconnected) when the relay is energized. The 11-pin relay has 3 Normally Closed terminals which are Pin no. 4, 6, and 8 respective to common terminals 1, 5, and 11.

Latching or Holding Circuit Using an 11-Pin Relay

Here, you can see the circuit diagram of a Latching or Holding Circuit using an 11-pin Relay. Here, the light will turn On when we push the ON push button and it remains On until we press the OFF Push Button.

Latching or Holding Circuit using 11-Pin Relay

Here, in the above circuit diagram, you can see we have used pins no. 5 and 7 of the relay to switch the neutral connection. We have used pins no. 1 and 3 of the relay to switch the line or phase connection. We have used pins no. 11 and 9 of the relay for latching or holding circuits.

PLA Type 11-Pin Relay Wiring Diagram

Here, you can see the Wiring Diagram for the Interlocking Circuit using two 11-pin Relays.

PLA Type 11-Pin Relay Wiring Diagram for Interlocking Circuit

As per the above wiring diagram, when we press the first push button switch(left-side), Bulb 1 will glow and Bulb 2 will be in Off condition. When we press the second push button switch(right-side), Bulb 2 will glow and Bulb 1 will be in Off Condition. The main importance of this interlocking circuit is that both of the bulb never turns On at the same time even when we press both push button switches.

Basically, we have connected both relays through the NC terminals opposite to each other which means when one relay is turned On another relay will be turned off as it connects through the NC contacts.
