Hospital Lighting Circuit Wiring Diagram and Connection
Here, in this article, we are going to learn how the hospital lighting circuit works, the wiring diagram, and the connection procedure. The hospital lighting system is designed in such a way that it can provide different brightness of illumination.
Patients in hospitals may have varying medical conditions, and some might be sensitive to bright lights due to their illness, recovery, or medical procedures, so they may need lower brightness. But when the Hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, and other personnel works they need high brightness.
Nowadays, different types of electronic circuits or electronic dimmer switching systems are used for this type of lighting system. But here, in this article, we are going two see the two-bulb method that may include in your syllabus.
Wiring Diagram
Here you can see the wiring diagram of the Hospital Lighting system. Here you can two wiring diagrams for two different methods - one is the normal SPST and SPDT switch method and another one is the light dimmer switch method.
Connection Procedure
SPST and SPDT Switch Method
1. The line or phase terminal from the power source is connected to one terminal of the SPST or One-Way Switch and the lower terminal of the SPDT or Two-Way Switch.
2. Both of the lamps are connected in series. One terminal of this series combination is connected to the Neutral terminal of the power source. And the other terminal of this series combination is connected to the middle terminal of the two-way switch.
3. The neutral terminal from the power source is also connected to the upper terminal of the two-way switch.
4. The middle point between the two lights is connected to the output terminal of the one-way switch.
Dimmer Switch Methode
1. The neutral terminal of both lamps is directly connected to the neutral terminal of the power source.
2. The phase terminal of the power source is connected to the input terminal of both dimmer switches.
3. Now, the output terminal of the dimmer switches is connected to the phase terminal of their respective lamps.
Working Principle
One-Way and Two-Way Switch Method
1. When the SPST switch or One-Way switch is OFF and the SPDT or Two Way Switch is pressed in the Up position, both lamps will be OFF.
2. When the SPST switch or One-Way switch is OFF and the SPDT or Two Way Switch is pressed in the Down position, both lamps will glow with low brightness as they come in series to each other so the room will get the minimum brightness.
3. When the SPST switch or One-Way switch is ON and the SPDT or Two Way Switch is pressed in the Down position, Only Lamp 1 will glow. So the room will get medium brightness.
4. When the SPST switch or One-Way switch is ON and the SPDT or Two Way Switch is pressed in the Up position, both lamps will glow with the maximum brightness as they come in parallel to each other so the room will get the maximum brightness.
Dimmer Switch Method
The working principle of the dimmer switch is very simple. Just operating the dimmer switch we can control the brightness of the lamp.
