How to use This Calculator?
Procedure for using the "Current Divider Calculator" (For Two Resistors):
1. Enter the input current (Iin) in amperes: Locate the input field labeled "Enter input current (Iin) in amperes" and type the value in the corresponding text box. Ensure the value is greater than or equal to zero.
2. Enter the resistance (R1) in ohms: Locate the input field labeled "Enter resistance (R1) in ohms" and enter the value of the resistance in the provided text box. Make sure the value is greater than or equal to zero.
3. Enter the resistance (R2) in ohms: Locate the input field labeled "Enter resistance (R2) in ohms" and enter the value of the second resistance in the provided text box. Ensure the value is greater than or equal to zero.
4. Click the "Calculate" button: Locate the button labeled "Calculate" and click on it. This will perform the calculations based on the input values provided.
5. View the results: After clicking the "Calculate" button, the calculator will display the calculated values in the corresponding output fields. The calculated results will include the current through R1, the current through R2, the voltage drop across R1, and the voltage drop across R2.
6. Reset the calculator (optional): If you want to clear the input values and calculated results, you can click the "Reset" button. This will reset all fields and allow you to perform new calculations.
Procedure for using the "Current Divider Calculator" (For Multiple Resistors):
1. Enter the input current: Locate the input field labeled "Input Current" and enter the value of the input current in amperes. You can use decimal numbers and specify the appropriate unit (A, mA, or µA) using the dropdown menu.
2. Enter the resistor values: By default, there is one input field for a resistor labeled "Resistor 1." Enter the value of the resistor in the provided text box and select the appropriate unit (Ω, kΩ, or MΩ) from the dropdown menu.
3. Add additional resistors: If you have more than one resistor, click the "Add Resistor" button. This will add another set of input fields for the next resistor. Repeat this step for each additional resistor you want to include in the calculation.
4. Click the "Calculate" button: Once you have entered all the necessary resistor values, click the "Calculate" button. The calculator will perform the necessary calculations based on the input values.
5. View the results: After clicking the "Calculate" button, the calculator will display the calculated results in the "Results" section. The results will include the current through each resistor and the voltage drop across each resistor.
6. Reset the calculator (optional): If you want to start a new calculation, you can click the "Reset" button. This will clear all input fields and calculated results, allowing you to perform a new calculation.
Note: Make sure to provide valid input values and units to obtain accurate results.
Formulas
The electrical formulas used by the above calculator are as follows:
Current through R1 (I1):
I1 = (Iin * R2) / (R1 + R2)
Current through R2 (I2):
I2 = (Iin * R1) / (R1 + R2)
Voltage drop across R1 (V1):
V1 = I1 * R1
Voltage drop across R2 (V2):
V2 = I2 * R2
In these formulas, the variables represent the following:
Iin: Input current in amperes (provided by the user)
R1: Resistance value of R1 in ohms (provided by the user)
R2: Resistance value of R2 in ohms (provided by the user)
I1: Current through R1 in amperes (calculated)
I2: Current through R2 in amperes (calculated)
V1: Voltage drop across R1 in volts (calculated)
V2: Voltage drop across R2 in volts (calculated)
