Tanning Bed Outlet Wiring Diagram and Connection
Here, you can see the wiring diagram of a tanning bed outlet with a circuit breaker. Here we have shown both types of outlets - single voltage(220V or 240V) and Double Voltage(120V and 220V). Generally, in most of cases, the single-voltage(220V or 240V) tanning bed outlets are mostly used.
120V/220V Tanning Bed Outlet Wiring Diagram with Circuit Breaker
This type of outlet provides double voltages -110V or 120V and 220V or 240V.
It is a 4-prong outlet. The red and black wires are the hot wires. White is for neutral and green is for grounding. The voltage between red and white is 110V or 120V. The voltage between black and white is also 110V or 120V. But the voltage between red and black is 220V or 240V.
A double-pole circuit breaker is used for safety. Generally, 20-amp to 50-amp circuit breakers are used.
The main source input power supply is to be connected to the circuit breaker and the output of the circuit is to be connected to the outlet. Only hot or live wires go through the circuit breaker. Neutral and ground wires are to be connected directly to the outlet.
220V Tanning Bed Outlet Wiring Diagram
The 220V or 240V Tanning bed outlet provides a single voltage only. It is a three-prong outlet. It does not have a neutral wire. It has both phase wires generally named hot 1 and hot 2. Both of the hot wires are connected through the Circuit Breaker and the ground wire is directly connected to the outlet.
The three receptacles such as NEMA 5-15R, NEMA 5-20R, and NEMA 6-20R are mostly used for tanning bed outlets. To protect the outlets from lighting strokes, power surges, and voltage spikes, the surge protector or surge protection device can be used with outlets. The circuit breaker is mostly protected from overload and short circuit faults but the surge protector extends the protection.
