On the other hand, the modern sound system uses a separate music player or receiver, a separate amplifier for each speaker, and subwoofers. As we know that the stereo system is a car that has a stereo music player and speakers connected to it. Basically, all the wires are brought outside to connect the speakers and power supply. So, it is very important to have proper knowledge of color coding with respect to its function. So, first of all, let's see the function of each color wire,

Black	Negative of Power Supply
Yellow	Constant Positive Power Supply from the battery
Blue	Antenna Power
Blue/White	Amplifier turn wire(remote)
Green	Positive for Left Rear Speaker
Green/Black	Negative for the Left Rear Speaker
Purple	Positive for the Right Rear Speaker
Purple/Black	Negative for the Right Rear Speaker
White	Positive for the Left Front Speaker
White/Black	Negative for the left front speaker
Gray	Positive for Right Front Speaker
Gray/Black	Negative for Right Front Speaker

Connection Description

• The black wire or negative wire is connected directly to the metal chassis ground.
• The yellow wire is connected to the positive terminal of the battery through a fuse connected in series.
• The red wire is connected to the accessories terminal of the ignition key.
• The green and green/black wires are connected to the left-side rear speaker.
• The purple and purple/black wire is connected to the right-side rear speaker.
• The white and white black wire is connected to the left side front speaker.
• The gray and gray/black wire is connected to the right side front speaker.

Car Sound System Wiring Diagram with Amplifier, Subwoofer

In the previous section, we have seen a simple sound system with a music player but here we are going to see the wiring diagram of a modern sound system with individual amplifiers and subwoofer.

Here, a four-channel amplifier is used to connect the satellite speakers. It works with medium and high-frequency audio signals such as vocal and tone. This is also basically a stereo amplifier. Another amplifier is used to drive the subwoofer. It works with only a low-frequency audio signal such as bass.

You can see in the above diagram that neutral wires from both amplifiers are connected to the metal chassis ground through a neutral block. And positive wire from each amplifier is connected to the positive terminal of the battery through a fuse. Also, you can see a capacitor is connected in parallel with the subwoofer amplifier.

The remote on the wire from the music player or receiver is to be connected to both amplifiers, so the amplifiers will be turned on automatically when the music player is turned on. Also, the amplifiers are connected to the music player through RCA cables.
