Equipment and Devices
Here, we are going to install a 7.2 surround sound system that is mostly used for the Dolby Atmos. The devices used in this system are,
- AV Receiver(Audio Video Receiver)
- Two Subwoofer
- Seven Satellite Speakers
TV and Video players are not part of the music system. Those are shown as examples. Without these devices, the sound system can work. But you have to provide audio or sound sources using any music player, laptop, computer, or even your mobile phone also.
AV Receiver is the main component of the Dolby Atmos sound system. All the speakers are to be connected to it. The video or audio source is to be applied to this AV receiver. AV receiver decodes the audio and video signals and provides audio through speakers and video through TV, projector, etc.

The AV Receiver has so many ports and connectors. Don't be confused. Here, I have shown only those ports that are used. All the ports for the satellite speakers are identified. So, connect all the satellite speakers properly as per their placement. The subwoofer has an inbuilt amplifier. It can not be connected directly to the speaker ports of the AV receiver. So, connect them using AV cables. Remember that the subwoofer required an additional power supply.
Here, I have shown a video player is connected to the AV receiver through HDMI cables. You can use a DVD player, computer, or laptop as a source. The AV receiver support also AV cable and ports for the connection. But connection through the HDMI cable is best for the Dolby Atmos Sound System.
Once you connect the video player to the AV receiver using an HDMI cable. You do not need to connect the TV to the video player. You can connect the TV to the AV receiver using an AV cable or HDMI cable.
