Band Pass Filter Applications, Examples, Advantages, Types
Band Pass Filter Applications
The main applications of Band Pass Filters are,
- The bandpass filter is used in the signal transmitter in a wireless communication system.
- The bandpass filter is also used in the signal receivers in wireless communication systems.
- The Band Pass Filters are used in modern audio systems such as the stereo system, Dolby Music System, Distributed Speaker systems, etc.
- The bandpass filter is used in neuroscience for collecting and analyzing data.
- The bandpass filter is used for signal processing and signal filtering of a selective range from a large signal spectrum.
- The Bandpass filter is used in audio equalizer circuits for frequency control.
- The bandpass filter is also used in SONAR, LASER, and LIDAR communication systems.
- The Band Pass filter is used in medical devices such as ECG.
The main function of a bandpass filter is to allow signals between a selected frequency range and block other signals having other frequency ranges. So, in a signal transmitter circuit bandpass filter helps to transmit a selected frequency signal, it saves energy and reduces noise, distortion, and complexity. In a signal receiver circuit, the bandpass filter helps to receive selected frequency signals from a wide range of signals.

Types of Band Pass Filter
According to the circuit component, bandpass filters are divided into two major types - 1. Active Band Pass filter( it is made up of active components such as transistors) and 2. Passive Band Pass filter( it is made up of passive components such as an inductor and capacitor)
According to the frequency range, a bandpass filter is divided into two types such as,
- Wide Band Pass Filter
- Narrow Band Pass Filter
A wide bandpass filter allows a broad range of frequencies to pass through it and block frequencies outside this range. It is used in applications like audio processing or communication systems where a wide range of signals is needed. On the other hand, a narrow band pass filter allows only a small, specific range of frequencies to pass through it and blocks all other frequencies. It is used in applications like radio receivers or medical devices where precise frequency selection is required.
Band Pass Filter Examples
FM Radio and Walkie Talkie are examples of bandpass filters used in signal receivers. Audio stations and radio stations are examples of bandpass filters used in signal transmitters.
Band Pass Filter Advantages
1. It helps to send or transmit a selected frequency range signal, so it helps to save energy.
2. It helps to filter signals between two frequency ranges.
