Working of modern Led bulb with transformer less power supply
Nowadays LED bulbs are very much used instead of incandescent lamps and CFL lamps. LED bulbs are very much more efficient than others and very less power is required for its operation. Many types of LED bulbs are available in the market. Let’s learn the working principles of LED bulbs which have a Transformerless power supply circuit.
In this post, you will learn how a transformerless power supply works. The circuit diagram of the Transformerless power supply is given below. The LEDs are used as a load.
Inside a Modern LED Bulb:
Working of Modern LED bulb:
The circuit consists of an X-rated series capacitor which drops the 220-230v AC voltage. And a high value of the resistor (Rp) is connected in parallel with the capacitor for discharge of the capacitor.
A series resistor (Rs) is used to limit the current.
A bridge circuit using four diodes is used to convert AC to DC.
An electrolytic capacitor is connected in parallel with the output of the rectifier to filtrate the DC.
A Zener diode is used for voltage regulation purposes.
The DC output is filtrated by the capacitor and Pure DC.
